NRM sets date for election of flag bearers in new districts

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party electoral commission will on August 15, hold elections for its flag bearers ahead of the elections for women representatives and LCV chairpersons in five newly created districts.

In a news conference on Friday, Tanga Odoi, the chairperson NRM electoral commission told journalists that the party had opened up nominations for aspirants in the new districts.

"An aspirant must be a Ugandan, a member of the NRM, a registered voter by the National electoral commission and not a cultural leader," Tanga said.

He also reminded the candidates to present to the commission a verified /certified ‘O' and ‘A ‘level certificates or their equivalent, for nomination.

"If you know you have forgeries, don't bother coming here use these two years and go back to school," Tanga advised.

All aspirants will be required to pay a non-refundable sh2m for nomination, to the Party's electoral commission, before nominations.

On Wednesday, the National Electoral Commission released the program for the Parliamentary and, local government council elections in the new districts of Namisindwa, Pakwach, Kyotera, Rukiga and Bunyangabu.
