Electricity firm Umeme has said it has never employed Andrew Okoth, the man linked to the murder of a female employee of a city bank.

Fahima Natoolo, who has been working with Tropical Bank, was found dead after a social media tipoff alerted Police of her disappearance.

The two were reportedly lovers and often went out together to have fun.

According to accounts from neighbours, the death could have resulted from a fight the two had after a disagreement on Sunday night.

Reports had indicated that Okoth is an employee of Umeme Limited, but the company now says he is not.

"We would like to clarify to the general public that Andrew Okoth is not an employee of Umeme," the statement posted on Twitter said.

The company said they have since established that the Okoth works for a private company that works with Umeme.

The development comes barely hours after police arrested Okoth, who has been on the run.

Pictures of the bare-chest Okoth were by this morning circulating on social media after he was reportedly cornered by Police last night.

Umeme said they are in touch Police and will offer any assistance that may be required during the investigations.

The Natoolo is one of a several cases of murders of women in and around the city in the last few months.

In the most recent three murders cases, which happened in Entebbe, police found that the victims were killed after being raped.
