KAMPALA - The Buganda caucus chairman Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga has said the Buganda caucus will not honour fallen UPC icon Rtd. Maj. Edward Rurangaranga.

"These are the people the NRM government fought, calling them killers. We cannot turn around and call them heroes."

Ssenyonga also cancelled the plan of buying a wreath and said he would not even attend the parliamentary session for paying tribute to the former minister and UPC national chairman.

As the MPs on the local government were waiting for a delegation from the Electoral Commission at 10.45am local time on Thursday, Mukono municipality MP Betty Nambooze, a member of the caucus, received a call from someone who was making an inquiry on whether the Buganda caucus should have a wreath.

Nambooze responded with anger: "Buganda caucus cannot do that unless you want some of us to get out of the caucus. These are the people who killed our people and abolished our kingdom. They don't deserve our honour."

The Democratic Party member said it is high time the country started denying honour to people who commit atrocities against Ugandans.
