The Board needs a forum for education assessment of students

The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) is to host Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA) conference aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in education assessment in an era of rapid change.

Speaking at a press briefing Wednesday morning, UNEB executive secretary Dan Odongo, stressed that UNEB needed a forum for education assessment of students.

"The number of learning students has rapidly increased as response to increased education and has had an impact on the resources available for renovation," Odongo said.

This has been realised through AEAA which is a basic association that engages different countries, interacting to share ideas.

AEAA is an association that was introduced in 1982 as a regional and national examination body in Africa specifically charged with responsibility for examination and assessment of educational performance.

The association's objectives are promoting co-operation and assessment bodies in Africa, encouraging relevant examining and assessment activities among its members.

It is also scheduled to co-ordinate research projects, sponsor international participation in the field of education, address and share experience on issues of evaluation and assessment.
