Broker charged over possession of ivory

City broker Paska Osike was on Friday charged with two counts including unlawful possession of protected species contrary to section 30 and 75(b) of the Uganda Wildlife Act cap 200.

Osike, 58, a resident of Kisugu lake side zone in Makindye division was arrested on 4th July and detained at Central Police Station (CPS).

He was summoned to court and served with notice to appear on 11th August at Buganda Road Magistrate Court to answer the charge.

In the first count, prosecution alleges that Osike was found in possession of four pieces of ivory weighing seven kilograms and valued at thirty six million seven hundred fifty thousand shillings.

In the second count, prosecution alleges that Osike was found in possession of dry skin of Okapi.
