Police has not yet established the motive of the assailants

Residents of Waluleeta village in Makulubita Sub County, Luweero District woke to a shock on Saturday when they discovered that unknown assailants had broken into two graves and fled with the remains.

Savannah Region Police spokesman, Paul Kangave said Police had not yet established the motive of the assailants nor arrested any suspects in connection with the incident.

Waluleeta LC1 chairman Edward Kyewalabye said the incident could have taken place at around 4am on Saturday morning.

Kyewalabye who lives in the neighbourhood, said he heard noises in the night, but he ignored them thinking that it was a neighbour cutting firewood.

A family member Francis Naggawa said the two people were buried in 2007 after they died of different ailments during the same year.

Residents jammed the scene as plain cloths Policemen examined the broken graves.

The incident comes hardly two weeks after a similar incident in Bamunanika County where Police recently recovered a woman's body and two skulls from a traditional healer's shrine.
