The district registered 23 cases of assault in the month June compared to other cases registered.

Police in Katakwi district decry alarming cases of assault which is at the peak of crime trend.

The district registered 23 cases of assault in the month June compared to other cases registered.

Robert Elungat, Katakwi Central Police station deputy CID attributed the rise in cases of assault to the biting economic condition faced by many families which in turn  brings domestic violence.

He appealed locals to work harmoniously and engage local leaders in solving cases of domestic conflicts to reduce cases of assault.

Bashir Siriba, the Katakwi DPC blames the increasing cases of assault to poor understanding of the law by majority locals.

He promises to increase community sensitization programs to curb increasing cases of assault.
