Despite a making slow start at the Commonwealth Chess Championship games in New Delhi, India, Uganda's Woman FIDE Master (WFM) Christine Namaganda is still hoping to produce good results.

"There are many strong players at the championships and this makes the competition a little stiff. Playing against men and Women Grand Masters (WGM) makes the whole competition tough.  But all the same, I have not yet lost hope," Namaganda said.

"All will be well, I know it. It is a new environment and I need to adjust to it.  Better results are coming soon."

Namaganda, playing in the open category, lost her opening game to a higher rated opponent India's WFM Cholleti Sahajasri Monday at Leela Ambience Hotel. She put up a commendable fight on board 48 but lost in 50 moves.

Namaganda will go into game two with nothing on her mind but a win to make up for her losses . She meets another Indian player, Y Saranya on Tuesday.
