The NRM has said the victory of the musician-turned politician, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is a shared victory with the party. Kyagulanyi, who stood on an independent ticket, defeated four other candidates, including NRM’s Sitenda Sebalu with an overwhelming 25,659 votes out of about 32,000 votes cast.

According to Rogers Mulindwa, NRM’s communications officer, Kyagulanyi’s victory is a clear testimony that the NRM's efforts in fostering electoral democracy has reached a reasonable stage that should be guarded jealously by all Ugandans.
