49 foreign players register for Woodball Open Championship

Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) president Mark Kayongo is overwhelmed with the turn up of foreign participants ahead of the 5th Uganda International Woodball Open Championship.

The three day event starting June 30 to July 2 has attracted 49 foreign participants.

"Am impressed with the turn up and I believe this year's event will be competitive," Kayongo said. 

Kayongo also applauded the Chinese ambassador to Uganda Zheng Zhu Qiang for sponsoring the Uganda open to a tune of USD 11,000 (about sh40m) that will be used to buy among others trophies, medals and T-Shirts for all participants plus officiation costs.

"They have relieved us and with the support rendered to UWbF, I am sure it will help us cover the biggest part of our budget," Kayongo said.

The event has attracted five participants from Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, China (2), South Korea (2), Malaysia (4), Nepal (1), Pakistan (2), Burundi (7), Comoros (8), DRC (8), Kenya (2), Nigeria (1) and 18 from Tanzania.
