Museveni's dance-off with Nandujja

The President engaged in Kiganda dance strokes, much to the excitement of the crowd

President Yoweri Museveni excited residents of Wakiso when he responded to the moves of traditional dancer, Annet Nandujja Kyewandabako of the ‘Ettooke' fame.

Nandujja, one of the artistes who composed the election campaign song ‘Tubonga Naawe' for Museveni had performed for the crowd at the district headquarters before the President arrived.

After Museveni presided over the graduation of women and youth in vocational skills, the master of ceremonies, also Member of Parliament of the East Africa Legislative Assembly, Mathias Kasamba called on Nandujja to bid farewell to the guest of honour.

She advanced towards Museveni and started dancing as the music played. In response, Museveni spread his arms and engaged in Kiganda dance strokes, much to the excitement of the crowd.

Other artistes, including crowd favourite Stabua Natooro had worked the crowds with local musical treats.

Natooro singled out area legislator and State Minister for Primary Education, Rose Mary Sseninde and her husband Kizza Sseninde who danced to her music with other women.

In her song, "Oli wa Mukisa' (you are lucky) Natooro raised Sseninde's hands before the crowd saying the couple had achieved a lot because of good luck.

Through her Sseninde Foundation, the legislator trained 1,760 women and youth in vocational skills to enable them get employment. 

They were trained in hair dressing, design and tailoring, bakery and decorations, charcoal briquettes, candle making, paper bag making, milk making from soya beans and sanitary pads making from local materials.    

Museveni promised to provide working tools for the trainees including sewing machines.
