Katurebe said the deceased judge had right approaches while executing his duties, saying he could ask smart questions and delivered genuine judgments.

The Chief Justice Bart Katurebe has described the fallen retired High Court Judge Justice Gideon Tinyinondi as a‘no nonsense judge who uprightly executed his duties throughout his time in judiciary.

Katurebe said the deceased judge had right approaches while executing his duties, saying he could ask smart questions and delivered genuine judgments.

Katurebe was represented by the Principal Judge Yokoram Bamwnine in the funeral service for deceased at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero on Thursday morning.

Tinyinondi who was born in 1943 died of cancer at Case Hospital on Tuesday June 13. He is one of the two new members who joined the appointed Members of the Commission of the Uganda Human Rights Commission, which took office February 5, 2016.

Katurebe said:  "Before his retirement, he made countless sacrifices in serving the nation," read part of the speech.

Katurebe also hailed the Government for supporting the deceased while he was still active in service. However, he expressed concern about the fact that Tinyinondi died before getting his retirement package from the Government.

On his part, Bamwine said: "He was an organised judge; his answer was either yes or no period! If you were an advocate and you were going to meet him without adequate preparation, you could face it rough."

Deborah Tinyinondi, the deceased's wife hailed him(Tinyinondi ) for having been a hardworking man who started from zero and had gained a lot of wealth by the time of his death. She said the deceased always spared time for the family for the 44 years they have been together as a wife and husband.

Justice Kenneth Kakuru, the Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court Judge said he worked with Tinyinondi as a Legal assistant in 1984 and taught him a lot of things as far as Leagal practice are concerned.

"He was an upright lawyer who upheld professional ethics. His name was never involved in any kind of scandal. I think he should have died serving as a Supreme Court judge," he said, adding that he wonders why hardworking people are not promoted in the current situation.

He also said with the guidance of late Tinyinondi, he (Kakuru) was able to start his own law firm in Kampala.

The Uganda Golf Club members said the late always provided Legal and parental advice to the club. "We shall dearly miss him. May his soul rest in peace," read part of the message.
