BY-ELECTION

KAMPALA - The  Court of Appeal is  to deliver its ruling on whether the Electoral Commission should go ahead and organise fresh elections to fill the now vacant seat of Luweero district Woman MP.

Lillian Nakate lost her seat in parliament after a successful election petition filed by her political rival DP's Brenda Nabukenya on grounds of voter bribery.

It was Judge David Batema's ruling that Nakate bribed voters when she gave a saving group at Vvumba village in Butuntumula sub-county sh100, 0000 as an inducement to vote  for her hence nullifying her victory and ordering for fresh elections.

In a bid to retain her seat, Nakate petitioned the Court of Appeal seeking orders to overturn Judge Batema's decision so that she can represent the women of Luweero district.
