First Lady hails Mukiibi's contribution to education

The proprietor of St. Lawrence schools passed away on Sunday morning

The Minister of Education & Sports also the First Lady, Janet Museveni, has said Uganda will always take pride in having had the late Lawrence Mukiibi who was a humble servant of the people.

The First Lady was effusive in her praise for Mukiibi, the proprietor of St. Lawrence schools, who passed away on Sunday morning at Norvik Hospital in Kampala.

"The Ministry is cognizant of the tremendous contribution which the late Prof. Mukiibi Lawrence has made towards advancing the education standards for the country and the East African region as a whole.

We will also remember with gratitude his contribution to the development and good management of private schools in the country. Private schools as we all know, have made a tremendous contribution to the improvement of education in the country. The sector shall remain greatly indebted to Prof. Mukiibi for this contribution" she said in a statement.

The First Lady also praised Prof. Mukiibi playing a key role in mobilizing private schools and institutions to participate in government educational programmes in his capacity as a member of the executive committee of private schools.

She added; "On addition, he has on a number of occasions availed his premises for use by the Ministry to execute its activities. And just this holiday, Prof. Mukiibi had allowed me to use one of his schools, for a week, to host head teachers of schools from across the country."
