Broken souls, wounded egos, a tainted image and a lost dream! The Cricket Cranes have lost it all.

When the hosts drew their road map to the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales, they didn't quite expect that their goal would come crumbling down at the initial stages. It is now all over and perhaps a time to reflect on a new life in the division four where they have been relegated for the first time in history! There is a lot to ponder.

Going into their last round robin game against the USA, the Cricket Cranes were mainly fighting to stay in division three after blowing away almost all their chances of qualifying for division two with two loses against Canada and Oman.

Staying in division 3 appeared a realistic target and as the game progressed, things were moving in favour of Uganda when Steven Taylor and Co put on a mere 149 all out with Davis Karashani picking 3 wickets in the first innings.

Chasing the game, Uganda looked comfortable, moving the scoreboard with Naeem Badaai getting 32. However things turned dramatic when Uganda lost 4 wickets from the 26 to 29 over.

Tail ender Henry Ssenyondo and skipper Davis Karshani partnership tried hard to contain the game putting some cautious runs before Davis Karashani was eventually bowled out with 14 runs left for Uganda to win the game. USA eventually won by 13 runs.

"The hunger to win has been lacking with the players. We have a lot of reflection on ourselves to do and ofcouser the disappointment is evident" said Davis Karashani, the Cricket Cranes skipper.

Uganda will now play their placement game against Malaysia at Entebbe Tuesday (tomorrow) to determine who finishes fifth.

Meanwhile Canada and Oman face off in the final of the seven day tournament at Lugogo oval
