ICRC seeks to hire a Communication officer

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a neutral and independent international humanitarian organisation, which assists and protects victims of armed confl icts and other situations of violence. The ICRC Delegation has an immediate opening for the following position:

Title: Communication Officer
Duty Station: Kampala
Working hours: 48 hours a week

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the ICRC Communication Responsible:

  1. Planning and Implementing Communication Programmes:
    • Organise and carry out communication activities with the army, police, national authorities and academics such as specially tailored presentations and workshops, provision and production of reference materials on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Human Rights (HR) law (such as Power Points or leafl ets).
    • Develop and maintain networks with infl uential members of the above mentioned target audiences.
    • Participate in external meetings, conferences and forum.
    • Strictly apply the financial and administrative procedures.
  2. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Ensure adequate reporting within ICRC on the activities in writing (e.g. contribution to periodical institutional reports such as BFR) or orally (e.g. during delegation meetings).
    • Liaise and ensure regular and smooth information fl ow and coordination of activities with Communication colleagues in Geneva and in other relevant delegations.
    • Draft minutes of meetings.
