Every NBL team is expected to pay a fee of sh1m each season as subscription fee to the federation.

The National Basketball League teams have to first clear their debts with the national federation to participate in the 2017 championships that tips off on Friday at the MTN Arena, Lugogo.

Following their accumulated debts, FUBA president; Ambrose Tashobya declared that any NBL team that have not yet cleared their subscription fee, risks a ban from the 2017 league.

Addressing federation delegates during the FUBA AGM on Saturday evening, Tashobya confirmed to the team leaders and coaches that failure to clear their participation fee with the Basketball body will le to disqualification from the 2017 NBL championship.

"We have accumulated team subscription debts from our own teams. So to reduce on these debt, We have decided to put a ban on every team that has not paid for this NBL season. This will reduce on our debts and also bring about discipline in the teams," said Tashobya during the AGM.

The team subscription debts alone stand at sh17m for a period of over three years.
