Most farmers after receiving seeds for planting turn them into food

The Community Development Officer of Kalaki Sub County in Kaberamaido district, Lona Arecho, has appealed to farmers to embrace agriculture.

She said agriculture is the backbone of Uganda hence the need for people to embrace it.

This was disclosed while overseeing the donation of maize and groundnut seedlings by Building Community Initiatives for Development (BIDs Foundation) to the people of Kamuda Parish in Kalaki on Saturday.

Arecho said most farmers after receiving seeds for planting turn them into food yet they are meant to be planted in order to produce more food.

"Rain is now pouring so farmers should not have an excuse of any kind concerning agriculture" Arecho said.

Pascal Engwau, the councillor representing Kamuda, said a farmer who will cry of hunger four months from now would not have worked hard at agriculture.

"We want everyone to concentrate on farming in order to avert hunger in the household level" Engwau stated.
