MPs critical of State House scholarships

The MPs say Parliament halted the activity.

KAMPALA - Members of Parliament on the presidential affairs committee have questioned the continued payment of scholarships by State House.

They interacted with the State House Comptroller Lucy Nakyobe over the proposed State House budget where State House is asking for sh55bn for donations, of which sh20bn will be used for scholarships.

Nakyobe revealed that State House intends to spend sh3bn on training pilots for the presidential jets in addition to sh1.32bn for the various presidential initiatives.

The MPs wondered why State House intends to spend sh20bn on scholarships yet Parliament halted this activity.

Nakyobe responded that there are still a number of students who are in non-UPE or USE government schools that State House still needs to pay off until they are done with studies.
