Bombers step up training at Lugogo

The national side have entered that third week of training

Coaches have intensified the Bombers training as a way of putting Uganda back to the map on the world boxing scene.

The national side have entered that third week of training in preparation for the Africa Boxing Championships due in Congo Brazzaville later this month.

One of the six coaches handling the team, Tony Sekabira of UPDF has said the athletes are responding well and sparring drills will be the order of the day.

Sekabira said the major target is to lift the Africa Championship trophy and have boxers qualify for the World Championships in Germany due in September.

The Bombers have been in camp at Lugogo since March 9th with 19 fighters out of whom Uganda intends to field a full team of 10 for the championships.

They are having two training sessions and head coach Hassan Mulanda has said the next elimination trials are scheduled for May 14th.
