Smokers warned against smoking in public

Speaking to New vision Amodoi said that smoking in public affects the health of non smokers and that it is against the anti-Tobacco law.

Soroti District Health Educator, Martin Amodoi has cautioned cigarette smokers against smoking in public.

This follows increasing number of smoking in  public something despite the government stipulated laws on smoking.

Speaking to New vision Amodoi said that smoking in public affects the health of non smokers and that it is against the anti-Tobacco law.

Amodoi urged locals to be vigilant and report public smokers to police so that they will be handled lawfully.

Meanwhile John Robert Angiro, the archdeacon of Usuk archdeaconry in Katakwi district conquers with Amodoi. He added that biblical teaching is against smoking.

 Tobacco Control Act 2015 of the constitution of Uganda bans smoking in Public places and that person lighting up cigarettes in bars, restaurants or hotels face being fined $60 or jailed for up to two months.

The act also entails that smokers must be at least 50 metres away from public spaces, such as schools, hospitals
