Good African Coffee reopened after tax feud

They have worked out a payment plan for the sh1.2b tax debt

 

With the doors of his Lugogo based Good African Café open once again, businessman Andrew Rugasira declared; "Friends, we are open for business!! Thank U! Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Is. 43:18-19." 

Following the closure of his Good African Coffee and Good African Café businesses on Monday, Rugasira worked out a payment plan for his sh1.2b tax debt and is back in business. 

Speaking about the reopening, Doris Akol, the commissioner general Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) noted that progress has been made toward settlement of the debt that accrued due to unpaid Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and Value Added Tax (VAT) since 2010.  

Akol cautioned local companies to be tax complaint to protect their brands and to avoid being shut down.
