Verdict in Kananura murder case pushed to Friday

The High Court in Kampala has deferred its verdict in the case where city businessman Andrew Kananura alias Desh and four others are accused of killing one Badru Kateregga to Friday.

The Presiding High Court Judge, Joseph Murangira, said that the judgment would be ready on April 28th (Friday).

Last week, the assessors advised court to acquit Kananura alongside his brother Raymond Kananura, Cyrus Maganda, and Samuel Muzolewo.

The assessors advised Murangira to acquit the accused on grounds that prosecution evidence is riddled with contradictions.

However, the assessors found that one of the co-accused, Jacob Onyanyo participated in Kateregga's murder and asked court to convict him of the offence.

Prosecution led by Jane Kajuga Okuo alleges that the accused on September 30, 2012, allegedly tortured Kateregga to death after they found him with sh30,000 in tips; exceeded the allowed amount to be held by any worker at Panamera Bar.
