The body's executive secretary Fr. Dr. Silvester Arinaitwe Rwomukubwe said the use of community policing can as well be used to combat crime and the perpetrators be charged in accordance with the law.

The Uganda Joint Christian Council (UJCC) has urged the Government to strengthen criminal investigations by allocating enough resources to Uganda Police's investigation department in a bid to curb down criminal rate.

The body's executive secretary Fr. Dr. Silvester Arinaitwe Rwomukubwe said the use of community policing can as well be used to combat crime and the perpetrators be charged in accordance with the law.

Their comments follow recent insecurity threats in different parts of the country most recent being the murder of the AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi at his home in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb.

While delivering Easter messages, Rwomukubwe asked all Christians to join them in the public way of Cross on Good Friday in the occasion that will be held in various parts of the country. He said, in Kampala, the function will take place at Old Kampala senior secondary school.

"The function will begin at 8.00am with processions from various parts of the city led by religious leaders. They will converge at Old Kampala S.S where we shall have an Ecumenical Service beginning at 11.00am and ending at 2.00pm" he stated.

Rwomukubwe also said:  "The Public way of the Cross is a worldwide movement which brings Christians from different denominations together for joint witness. This is in response to the prayer of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in John 17:2."
