List of Soroti schools facing closure to be released

The acting principal education officer Soroti municipality, Patty Emokor, has announced that they are about to unveil the list of private schools facing closure.

This statement comes at a time when leaders and members of the public have been asking why municipal council authorities have not closed private schools operating without the required minimum standards.

Some of the leaders claimed that Soroti municipality education officials had been bribed by private school owners whose schools are on the verge of being closed.

But Emokor clarified that they are busy compiling the list of private schools to be closed for failing to meet the minimum required standards ranging from, good classrooms, trained teachers and sanitation facilities, among others.

According to him, after compilation, the list will be submitted to the office of the town clerk for approval.

In a similar development, the list of private institutions to be closed in Soroti district will be out this week said the district education officer, Everest Okello.
