Over 18,500 pass business, technical exams

An analysis of the results shows that male candidates had an overall better performance (80%)

A total of 18,598 students passed national exams for business and technical courses at government institutes in 2016, making them eligible for employment or further studies.

Results released Thursday by the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) show that male candidates still dominate technical courses while females are more into business programmes.

A total of 23,470 candidates sat for the exams for diploma and certificate awards in three categories of Business, Technical, and Physical and Biological Science programs.

An analysis of the results shows that male candidates had an overall better performance (80%) in the courses compared to their female counterparts (77%).

It is the 9th year of release for technical exams since UBTEB was established, during which over 83,300 have been certified to possess practical skills join the work force.
