KITENDE - Erisa Ssekisambu scored five times as Vipers SC made easy work of Kiboga Young to progress to the quarter-finals of the Uganda Cup.

The defending champions hissed past their opponents in a one-sided goal galore peppered with total dominance at St Mary's Stadium on Thursday.

That made it two wins in two successive games for the Kitende-based side at their new home.

Their first was a 1-0 win over South African side Platinum Stars in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup two weeks ago. Vipers were eventually knocked out over the two legs after a 3-1 defeat in the return leg.

But the Uganda Cup title-holders showed just how they had shaken off that disappointment with a dominant display on home ground.

Kiboga eliminated Premier League side SC Villa in the round of 64 but facing a more superior opponent in this phase, they just could not cope.

They allowed the home side to dominate play as well as see the back of the goal with embarrassing ease. Vipers welcomed the invitation, seeing last season's most valuable player (MVP) Ssekisambu net five goals.

The other scorers were namesakes Brian Nkuubi and Brian Kakaire.

Vipers' title defense continues. This year's final will be hosted by Arua at the Green Light Stadium - the home of Onduparaka FC - in June.

The knock-out competition will resume on Saturday and Sunday.
