The national motocross team captain Maxime Van Pee has urged all riders to continue training in a bid to step up their performance ahead of the FIM Central Africa Motocross Championship next month in Busiika.

Van Pee made the appeal on Tuesday morning, two days after the second round of the National Motocross Championship that had mixed results in the different categories.

"I am impressed with the improvement in the competitions but I appeal to all riders to continue training and working on their fitness because we have to win the FIM-CAC with a big margin," Van Pee stated.

"We have to defend our trophy and this will be the opportunity to gauge ourselves before the FIM Africa Championship in Botswana which we are also targeting to win," he added.

On Sunday Van Pee who is nursing an ankle injury, finished second behind Asaf Natan who won the MX1 category.

Team Uganda will be beefed up by the Orland brothers who will join the team next month from USA where they are taking part in various competitions.

Van Pee was also impressed by the increased number of riders this year saying the future of Motocross in Uganda is bright.

"We now have a big number of riders and it is upon the federation to organise for training of these youngsters to improve their standards," he said.
