Mubende hosted the rally last year where the biggest number of drivers dropped out due to poor roads

Motorsport governing body FMU has revealed that Kayunga and Wakiso districts will host this year's Pearl of Africa Rally.

FMU president Dusman Okee told New Vision today in an interview that they want to put an event in an area that is conducive to the competitors and spectators.

"I can confirm to you that this year's Pearl of Africa Rally will be in Kayunga and Wakiso districts and we want to organise best," Okee stated.

The Pearl of Africa Rally is the third round of the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) after the Rally of Ivory Coast and the Kenya Safari Rally.

Last year, Mubende district hosted the rally where the biggest number of drivers dropped out due to poor roads.

Last weekend, five Ugandan drivers Hassan Alwi, Christakis Fitidis, Yassin Nasser, Duncan Mubiru and Kephar Walubi competed in the Safari Rally but none scored ARC points because all finished outside the top 10.

Mubiru dropped out of the event while Walubi, Alwi, Fitidis and Nasser finished 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th respectively.
