Team Australia jetted into the country on Monday for the 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championships due this Sunday.

The team of 29 was scheduled to arrive Tuesday as per the official championship timetable but they touched down at 1pm local time at Entebbe international Airport a day earlier.

Lal Avikash from Fiji also flew in Monday.
 
Clad in their trademark yellow and green Aussie kit, the Australian team looked jolly as they soaked in the sunny welcome.

Participants and officials will be accommodated in Hotel Africana and Imperial Royale Hotel, with some on the fully-sponsored three-night quota by the local organising committee, others on the subsidised quota and still others outside both arrangements.
 
Australia's 29-strong team is expected to be the eighth largest in the 60-country event due this weekend at the Kololo Airstrip.
 
The local organising committee (LOC) have promised a "smooth transition for all delegates" that will, among others, include special arrangements made to ease the immigration checks upon their arrivals at Entebbe Airport.
 
Volunteers will be on hand at the airport to guide delegates through the checks and after to their designated hotels.

Similarly helpful arrangements have been put in place for media representatives who will be staying at the official media hotel.
