RESULTS

It's been a losing slow start for Uganda in the ongoing qualification for the AfroBasket Women 2017 tournment.

Teams are competing for seven remaining spots in the tournament through zonal qualifying, with Uganda's Gazelles competing in Zone 5 against Egypt, Kenya and Somalia.

Only one team from this zone will qualify.

Zone 5 qualification started on Sunday, with Uganda losing to Egypt (85-56) in the Egytian capital Cairo.

The following day, on Monday, Uganda suffered yet more defeat, this time at the hands of Kenya (41-70).

In a round-robin format, the Gazelles will look to revive their hopes for qualification against Somalia on Tuesday.

After today, Gazelles will again still have to play against Egypt, Kenya and Somalia.

Five teams already qualified for the September tournament before the qualification round. They are host nation Mali, and 2015 semi-finalists Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria and Angola.

Senegal, who have won the competition 11 times, are the defending champions.
