URA FC defeated Soana to move within the touching distance of Uganda Premier League leaders KCCA on Friday evening.
A 2-0 win took the Tax Collectors to third on the table with 33 points, eight behind KCCA who were not in action.
This was Ibrahim Kirya's second game in charge of URA after defeating Sadolin Paints on his debut.
Hamis Kizza and Nicholas Kagaba each struck for URA to secure their 7th win of the season.
Elsewhere, Norman Ojik scored the only goal as Sadolin Paints beat JMC Hippos 1-0 at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.
In the same game, JMC's captain Herbert Kakande was shown marching orders after an offence in the 80th minute.
At Namboole, Robert Achema was on target as Police lost to BUL 1-0 while Lweza settled for a goalless draw with Proline at Wankulukuku.
