"Nothing is more powerful than one's brain," said the Germany Ambassador Peter Blomeyer at the just concluded SOM Chess Academy seminar at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Kampala.

"The game of chess should act as your tool to sharpen your brain. This will also create a clear path for you for a brighter tomorrow like Phionah Mutesi."

The Ambassador encouraged the youths of the SOM Chess Academy to make good use of the lessons picked from Germany Grand Master (GM) Thomas Luther to make a breakthrough in life.

"The story of Phionah Mutesi is going to be continued and the one who continues this story is you. So like Mutesi, chess will help you in your lives if only you keep focused," Blomeyer said.

The seminar that was aimed at equipping young chess players with skills, attracted over 87 players of which four were physically handicapped, 14 were from the Uganda Chess Federation and SOM chess academy.

Players from the seminar took home certificates while Robert Katende's SOM chess academy received chess sets from the Germany Embassy Kampala.
