Beach soccer: YMCA look to stretch lead

Feb 24, 2017

YMCA, who had dipped in form last season, have come back strongly.

YMCA Beach Soccer Club (BSC) has the opportunity to open the gap with champions Nkumba Select BSC when they meet struggling IUEA in the second round of the National Beach Soccer League university derby at Lido on Sunday.

YMCA, who had dipped in form last season, have come back strongly pursuing what they failed to achieve during coach Haruna Kebba's time in 2014 and 2015 - winning the national league.

With their top scorer Faisal Muwawu (10 goals), Allan Katwere, Douglas Muganga and Allan Zirimenya determined to replicate the  fantastic form they enjoyed at Nkumba Select last year, YMCA are currently top of the Hurricken Group with 18 points.

They are ahead of Nkumba Select on goal difference.

YMCA, who poached four of their prolific players from Nkumba at the beginning of the second round, have a goal difference of 18 while Nkumba Select who will not play in the outing have 17.

In their last game, YMCA stunned MUBS 9-6 to win and leap to the top of the Hurriken Group while IUEA have lost all their seven matches played so far.
