Parliament to compete in Joan Cox Volleyball championship

A minimum of 250 girls and 60 women from clubs are expected to compete this year.

The female-only Joan Cox Memorial Volleyball Championship has attracted a team from the Parliament of Uganda to compete in the newly instructed corporates' category.

A minimum of 250 girls and 60 women from clubs are expected to compete at this year's Championships at Gayaza High School starting Saturday.

The championship, in memory of the school's former head teach Joan Cox, will also see Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) eyeing the women's trophy for keeps. They have won the same for the last two years.

St. Bridget Secondary School are the defending champions for the girls category while Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) have won the clubs category for the last two years.

Organisers of the annual championship from Gayaza High School and Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) say that they have opened up to accommodate corporate teams and the Parliament to accommodate old girls of the school and other groups of players interested in the competition.

This year's championship has also attracted schools from as far as Isingiro in Western and Tororo in Eastern Uganda.
