Police will not entertain such habits in society where rights of vulnerable children are oppressed

Caretakers of orphans in Gweri Sub County in Soroti district have been warned against oppressing children's rights

This follows the recent rescue of 28 children in Gweri found doing domestic work with a majority of them revealed to be orphans.

Peter Ebau the area LC3 chairperson said people should know that all children need equal treatment irrespective of their parenthood.

"People should learn to love orphans and to uphold their rights in the society" Ebau stated.

He noted that orphans did not at even one time request to be orphans but that it was up to God.

"If we find people who are mistreating children especially vulnerable ones, as the sub county authorities we will try our best to handle them accordingly" Ebau added.

Patrick Iyeset the community liaison officer, Gweri Police Station, said as Police they will not entertain such habits in society where rights of vulnerable children are oppressed.

He warned that if they learn of a parent who mistreats children the law will take its course.
