Parliament to hold special sitting to eulogise Moroto MP

According to a programme released by Parliament, the body of Logiel arrives in Uganda on Thursday in the afternoon after which it will be taken to a funeral house for embalmment.

Parliament will hold a special sitting on Friday to pay tribute to the late Moroto District Woman Member of Parliament, Annie Logiel.

According to a programme released by Parliament, the body of Logiel arrives in Uganda on Thursday in the afternoon after which it will be taken to a funeral house for embalmment.

Overnight vigil will be held in Entebbe. Logiel, 49, died a week ago at a hospital in Denmark where she had gone for treatment for a brain tumour this year. On Friday at 9am, a requiem service will be held at Christ the King Church, Kampala.

The body will be taken to Parliament at 10.30am for MPs and other mourners to pay their last respects and sign the condolence book.

In the afternoon the body will be taken to the Parliamentary Chamber, where wreath will be laid.

A motion to pay tribute to the deceased will be moved by the Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business in Parliament and seconded by the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament.Logiel will be buried in Moroto on Sunday.

Born in 1968, Logiel went to Latome girls PS, Kangole Girls SS before joining Matany nursing School and Nsambya Nursing Training School where she obtained certificates.

In 2004 she obtained a Masters in International Health at the University of Copen hagen, Denmark. She also held a Bachelor of Nursing from Kampala International Health Science University.

From 2008 to 2016, she served as executive director Karamoja Indegenous and Modern health Project.Between 2006 to 2008 she was senior nursing officer Moroto Regional Referral Hospital
