Jackie Nakasi scored twice as UCU Lady Cardinals comfortably beat Kampala Queens on a wet Villa Park in the FUFA Women's Elite League on Saturday.

Phoebe Banura had scored the opener while Zaina Namuleme pulled one back as an early consolation for the hosts. Perhaps the result would have been much different had she not missed her penalty earlier on.

Banura's goal came in the 10th minute after her well-taken freekick beat the home goalkeeper after Annet Nakirija was brought down outside the area.

Ten minutes later, Namuleme was bundled in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. She stepped up to take the penalty which she missed, failing to level matters.

It didn't take her long to make up for her wastefulness as five minutes later, she hit home after the visitors failed to clear the ball from a corner kick.

First half ended leveled on a soggy pitch after a downpour before kick-off.

Nakasi returned to put Cardinals back in the lead on the hour-mark after being played through by Cathy Nalwonga.

And with 20 minutes left on the clock, she completed her brace - and her side's third goal - to all but wrap up a convincing victory for the Mukono-based team.

With one game left to the end of the first round, victory leaves Cardinals second on the table with 15 points in a group of eight teams.

They are six points behind group leaders Kawempe Moslem FC who have won all the seven games in the group.
