The budget committee tips government to first sort out the management problems of the national broadcaster.

KAMPALA - The Parliament budget committee headed by Ntenjeru North MP Amos Lugoloobi has rejected a government proposal to recapitalize Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) with sh20b.

Government had in its proposals for the 2017/18 sh30trillion budget allocated sh20b to UBC to revamp it.

In the widely supported report which Lugoloobi presented to the house on Tuesday, the committee advised government to first sort out the management problems of UBC before thinking of allocating it big sums of money.

The budget committee and the Public Finance Management Act give parliament powers to determine how public resources should be allocated.
