KCCA coach confident ahead of second round

"I am happy with the performance of the players and the fact that they all showed commitment."

KCCA FC assistant coach Morley Byekwaso (pictured) believes his players are in good form ahead of the second round of the Azam Uganda Premier  League.

The second half of the campaign kicks off on February 7.

"I am happy with the performance of the players and the fact that they all showed commitment regardless of the opposition," said Byekwaso.

He also relished his side's 6-1 victory over Koboko Rising Stars in the Uganda Cup on Saturday.

"I believe the test was timely for the team especially that the second round of the league is around the corner."

Table leaders KCCA (32 points) will host Onduparaka in their first game of the second round on February 7 at Lugogo. 

After their opening game  they will  now shift focus  to the CAF Champions League tie against  Angola's Clube Desportivo 1º de Agosto.

KCCA will host the first leg between February 10-12 before travelling for the return leg (February 17-19).

Musana back to Kenya

Meanwhile, midfielder Ronald Musana, who decided not to renew his contract with KCCA, is on the verge of rejoining the Kenya Premier League.

He was with the holders for six months, and is now set to join either Nakumatt FC or AFC Leopards.

Before joining KCCA, Musana had been at Kenyan side Tusker FC. He became the sixth player to leave KCCA during the transfer period.

Others include defenders Martin Mpuuga, Paul Willa, Ssaaka Mpiima and Brian Ochwo, midfielder Yasin Mugume and Hakim Senkumba who were all loaned to Police FC for the remainder of this season.

KCCA who have not confirmed any new player in this transfer window are still in negotiations to sign Express midfielder Saddam Juma.

 Meanwhile, former Saints player Patrick Senfuka has joined Kenyan side Kakamega Homeboyz FC on a  two -year deal.​
