Members of Parliament accused the judiciary of trying to interfere with their work

Parliament is set to resume sitting on Wednesday after a court case barring it from discussing the sh6b presidential handshake was withdrawn over the weekend.

Jane Kibirige, the clerk to parliament, in a communication said the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga had notified committees to start sitting on Tuesday while plenary will resume on Wednesday.

Chris Obore the director of communications at Parliament said that whereas Kadaga has ordered for the house to resume, she still maintains that the court injunction must be fully vacated from the Constitutional Court because withdrawing the case is not enough.

Last week, Kadaga in a stormy session adjourned the house indefinitely when the Electoral Commission (EC) legal officer Eric Sabiiti sought the leave of the deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma to pass a court order stopping Parliament from discussing the presidential handshake.

Kadaga shot down attempts by the deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutana to block the house from discussing the sh6b that was shared by over 40 government officials.
