Kabaka to grace Kisaakaate closing ceremony

Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will officiate at the closing ceremony of the Kisaakaate on Sunday at St. Janan Secondary School Bombo in Luweero district.

 

The two-week long event kicked off on January 2, with over 250 children between the ages of 11 and 18 taking part.

 

The Kisaakaate or "The Royal Enclosure" is an initiative of the Nabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda. It is aimed at revitalizing and strengthening moral values, leadership, and domestic duties skills among children and youth.

 

On Wednesday the Nabagereka Nagginda spent a day with children at the camp.

 

She emphasized the need for parents to educate their children about culture and customs. She noted that it's the elder's role to advise and also to teach the children morals.

 

The camp was facilitated by Nabagereka Development Fund ((NDF) for Youngsters culture and morals.

 

Kabuuza-Mukasa, a member of Nabagereka Development Fund, said children need to cherish where they come from and be proud of Africa.

 

He said "Kisaakaate started in 2007 and is aimed at promoting moral values and customs not only for Baganda but also other tribes.

 

The event is rotational and is organized at school venues during holidays. Schools that have hosted the event include St. Agnes Naggalama, Seeta High School Mbalala Campus, Mbogo High School, Katikamu SDA in Luweero, Gayaza High School, St. Mary`s Kitende, Trinity College School Nabbingo, London College and Janan Secondary School Bombo.

 

Over 4,000 children have been trained at Kisaakaate since it started.
