The Uganda lady cricketers' experience in the UAE International Women's T20 Cup is nothing to sniff at, Rita Tinka, the sides' team manager believes.

Despite finishing in an improbable third position, Tinka maintains that the tournament has given the team some impetus to work harder and better in upcoming events.

"We failed to win the trophy but we can't ignore the fact that we have had an opportunity of facing new competition and hence testing ourselves. We are ready to learn a lot of things from this new experience," Tinka said.

Uganda faced Kuwait and Oman for the first time and managed to beat them before eventually faltering at the hands of Kenya by a mere 1 wicket.

Francis Otieno's side managed to grab a trophy after coming third in the non-cash prize event that attracted a total of seven teams including Kenya, Uganda, Oman, Qatar, Malaysia, Zimbabwe and host UAE.

Meanwhile Kenya beat UAE by 5 wickets to claim the tournament Tuesday.
