Twelve year old impresses in Kireka Chess tournament

The 12 year old player will be up against Enid Precious Nassasira in game four

Maria Nakanyike will have to double her efforts to earn herself a decent rating in the ongoing Kireka Chess tournament in Kampala.

Nakanyike who started on a good note when she beat Gorretti Angolinkin (1616) in the first game later suffered a set back after losing her second game to Peninah Nakabo but managed to beat Joan Nalukwago in the third game.

The 12 year old player will be up against Enid Precious Nassasira in game four of the tournament.

Meanwhile in the men's category, the return of chess veteran Edward Ssentongo (2295) has added spice to the tournament .
 
"I went off the Uganda scene to practice blind chess in order to better myself in chess which I think most of our Ugandan players should think of doing in order to better ourselves on the international level," said Ssentongo.

The 64 year old beat Valere Girumigisha (black) and Candidate Master (CM) Baagadde Daniel (1994) in his first two games but lost to Simon Gonza (2089) in the third game to level to 2 points.
