Museveni to get continental award

Dec 05, 2016

At the awarding ceremony, the Ugandan leader will speak about pan-Africanism.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will this Wednesday be awarded for his contribution in leadership and achievements for humanity in Uganda, East Africa and Africa as a whole.

The ‘Africa leadership Awards Gala' aimed at honouring African leaders who have stood the test of time will be held in Kampala at the Imperial Royale Hotel.

The country representative for Africa Leadership Awards Davis Akampurira said leadership at every level presents enormous challenges but it all depends on the leader to manage and stand the test.

"It is true leadership presents enormous challenges but how various leaders, companies, organizations have managed to steer through challenges to deliver their people to the shoreline is what now fundamentally differentiates one African nation from the other," he said.

According to Akampurira, it is this very reason Uganda is hosting this year's edition of the Africa Leadership Awards 2016 which aim at celebrating some of Africa's prominent leaders (personalities, organizations and companies).

"The ceremony will showcase men and women who have applied the best leadership modules and practices to reach unchartered territories, and established their supremacy on the shores of success.

The event will attract several leaders across the continent.

President Museveni, who will be the guest of honour, will speak about pan-Africanism while the Kenyan deputy president William Ruto will speak about youth politics and the dynamics of regional integration.
