Shaban shocks by winning player of the year award

Shaban and Nasuuna won the male and female most valuable player awards respectively for the year 2016.

Onduparaka FC captain Shaban Mohammad and Kawempe Muslim SS FC striker Hasifa Nassuuna were the biggest winners at the annual FUFA Awards Dinner at the Victoria Hall, Speke Resort Hotel, Munyonyo on Friday.

Shaban and Nasuuna won the male and female most valuable player awards respectively for the year 2016.

In the 2016 season, Shaban scored 16 in the FUFA Big league, four in the regional tours against and for Uganda Cranes, seven in the Uganda Cup, and so far seven in the Azam Uganda Premier League totaling to 30 goals in the season at the time of award.

The youngster shocked all when he beat Mamelodi Sundowns' goalkeeper Dennis Onyango, Standard Liege's Faruku Miya, Vipers SC striker Erisa Ssekisambu and KCCA's reigning Uganda Premier League MVP Joseph Ochaya to the award.   

The award like it was for the 2015 accolade, came with a brand new car.

FUFA team of the year had URA goalkeeper Mathias Mugwanya, KCCA's Denis Okot, Joseph Ochaya, Muzamir Mutyaba and Robert Sentongo, Jinja's central defender Musa Walangalira, Vipers SC's Halid Lwaliwa, Keziron Kizito, Ibrahim Kayiwa, and Erisa Ssekisambu as well as Shaban.
