They will be ready for collecting on Monday.

Senior Six students who are currently writing their final A' Level exams throughout the country have a reason to smile following the opening of the Public Universities Joint Admissions Board (PUJAB) offices, which is scheduled to give out forms effective December 5.

In a letter dated November 30 from the academic registrar Alfred Masikye Namoah, the PUJAB forms for 2016 Senior Six candidates, for the 2017/2018 academic year admissions will be ready for collection starting Monday.

Masikye noted that application forms will be collected from the Academic Registrar's Office on Level 3, Senate Building, Makerere upon payment of a non-refundable application fee of sh52,000 per candidate for only Ugandans.

"Headteachers or their authorised representatives will be served and the closing date for submitting the completed application forms is Tuesday January, 31, 2017," he said.

The application form for placement of students to public universities will be completed by Senior Six leavers who wish to be considered for admission by individual public universities under government sponsorship.

Masikye further clarified that applicants are liable for admission only if their academic credentials are genuine as approved by Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).

He advised applicants who sat A'Level examinations in the previous years that their results are valid for government sponsorship if they sat for exams within three years back.

Last week government authorised the university administration to recall staff to execute PUJAB activities given that Makerere University plays a central role in the coordination of all public university admissions.

Ritah Namisango, the university public relations officer, said that the education ministry granted permission to Makerere University to recall skeleton staff involved in the execution of PUJAB matters and activities.

Makerere conducts Government and private admissions for the seven public universities of Gulu, Kabale, Kyambogo, Lira, Muni, Busitema and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), as well as Makerere University Business School (MUBS).

A total of 4,000 undergraduate students are admitted on Government sponsorship scheme annually.
