Entebbe court remands 2 SA women over drug trafficking

Entebbe Magistrate court has remanded two South African women to Kigo Prison after they were arrested by airport police for drug trafficking.   

The suspects identified as Grace Onyia Golie, 65, a resident of Johannesburg, South Africa was carrying 3.7kg of cocaine valued at sh1b and Nkcosolwaa funiwe Abegail, 42, a resident of Pretoria carrying 0.8kg of heroine valued at sh221m.

They appeared before the Grade one Magistrate, Julian Kimono, who remanded them to Kigo until December 5.

According to prosecution, the duo was arrested on 19 and 21 of November at Entebbe airport carrying drugs which are prohibited internationally.

They were charged according to the new Narcotic Drugs section 41 (2) of Narcotic Drug and psychotropic substance control Act 2016.

Four women have so far been arrested by airport police within a period of 2 weeks, the latest a Nigerian mother with her daughter. They were found in possession of 10 kilograms of heroin estimated at sh3b.
