Calls for food relief in Kaberamaido

The representative of the elderly persons of Lwala parish in Otuboi sub-county, Kaberamaido district is appealing for food aid as the hunger situation in the area worsens.

With over 10,000 households in Kaberamaido district surviving on only a meal a day, Juventino Okello says providing food aid to especially the elderly persons is an emergency.

Denis Obonyo, a concerned community member, says most families survive on porridge yet the price of posho (maize meal) has shot up to sh2000 per kilogram.

Obonyo, who is also the chairperson works committee in Kaberamaido district, says hunger has pushed most children out of school thus the need by government to rescue locals.
