Mangat off to flying start in Jinja Rally

The crews on Sunday enter the eight competitive sections which will determine whether Mangat or Alwi emerge 2016 NRC champion

Jas Mangat started the MOSAC rally in fine fashion winning the super special stage on Day 1 at the Jinja Agricultural Show Ground on Saturday.

Navigated by Joseph Kamya in a Mitsubishi Evo10, the crew posted the fasted time of five minutes and 45 seconds (5:45) beating second finisher Ronald Ssebuguzi (6:05) by 20 seconds.

Mangat was in fine form right from the beginning beating rival Hassan Alwi by 13 seconds in first run. He clocked 2:51 minutes while Alwi posted 3:04 minutes.

"We just had to start up on high note but the rally is tomorrow and we are waiting to see what we can do" Mangat said.

Leila Mayanja was the first casualty of the day, crashing after suffering suspension problems.

Busoga region representative Kepher Walubi excited the Jinja fans as he put up his best performance finishing sixth beating top crews including Desh Kananura and Arthur Blick Jr. who finished eighth and tenth respectively in the tightly contested stage.
